Robotic constructability — a PhD design explorer, rebuilt for the browser
The third .ify tool: 999 simulated designs of a robotically assembled CLT house, scored on carbon, robot time, and how comfortably a robotic arm places the panels. Live Pareto fronts, priority re-ranking, parallel axes, and every render, no install.
Robotic constructability is live at constructability.ifylab.dev and embedded on this site. It is the open-source companion to Zargar, Duarte and Brown, Design exploration of robotically assembled cross-laminated timber houses with sequential path planning (Automation in Construction 181, 2026), and to the PhD dissertation behind it. Each of the 999 designs is a small CLT house scored on embodied carbon, mobile-robot travel time, and how comfortably a robotic arm places the wall and roof panels, plus CLT sheet demand and the assembly steps that need temporary support. Five views put the whole design space in the browser: question-phrased priority sliders that re-rank all 999 live, a scatter over any score pair with the live Pareto front, brushable parallel axes, a gallery of every render, and the methodology with live-computed correlations. State travels in the URL, so a shared link reproduces a ranking or opens a design. Apache-2.0, on GitHub.
